April is also the best time to view the Bluebonnets in the surrounding areas, so make it a weekend.

If you'd like to be a vendor at the event, please read the following Letter to Vendors.

Dear Herb Vendor,

You are cordially invited to participate in the Texas Herb & Art Festival co-hosted by the Herb Association of Texas and the Antique Rose Emporium on April 5, 2008 in Brenham, TX.

Space is limited so please get your application in soon. Application Deadline is March 5, 2008. This weekend was chosen because the Antique Rose Emporium was interested in co-sponsoring the event with their annual Art Festival. This date is also the weekend of the Round Top Antiques Fair, and what we hope will be the height of bluebonnet season!

Due to the many activities occurring simultaneously this weekend, hotel space is very limited. You may have to check into the availability of rooms as far as College Station, however, they have a larger selection of hotels. A new La Quinta is scheduled to open in March and is not yet taking reservations.

It is unusual for HAT to conduct an Herb Festival at a plant nursery. Because of this Mike & Jean Shoup, owners of ARE, have graciously agreed to put away their herbs in the plant area of the nursery in order to increase our vendor sales. In return, HAT asks that vendors only bring herb plants, herb books and herb related products. We will not accept applications that include garden décor or perennials out of respect to our co-sponsor.

The Funky Art Café, of Brenham, will be providing brunch items, snacks and lunch in the lovely tea room atmosphere of the Victorian Champney's House.

We are also looking for demonstrations/lectures for the "speakers' corner" behind Champney's house. Talks should last from 20-30 minutes. Anyone willing to participate in the lecture series please call me at 830-257-6732 or e-mail lavender1@ktc.com. You don't have to be a vendor to participate in the speakers' corner.

Set up will be available on Friday, April 4 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday starting at 7 a.m. The Festival will be from 9 a.m. 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 in conjunction with the art show in the Chapel. Electrical options will be limited. Please let us know if you have any special needs.

Deadline for applications is March 5, 2008. Please return your application by mail to Lavender & Old Lace, P.O. Box 294298, Kerrville, TX 78029 or e-mail to lavender1@ktc.com. We look forward to your participation in this herb market and we hope that this event will renew old friendships and start new ones.

Sincerely,

Beth Patterson
